Ty and Jackie Bergren – Chi Alpha
Life/Favorite Verse? I have never been organized enough to have a ‘life verse’, but one that I have allowed to deeply challenge and impact me is Galatians 2:20–I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. This really sums up my faith and the foundation I stand on. I guess I do have a life verse after all!
How long have you served at the church? We moved to Butte January 1st 2009 to start Chi Alpha at Montana Tech. Pastor Randy and Tammy quickly became people we trusted and loved.
If you could eat anything for a year, what would it be? I have had to remain gluten and dairy free for the past 3.5 years! Let’s stop talking about actual good food because it’s rare in my life now…LASAGNA!
Hobbies? With 3 younger kids, my time, energy and money go to hanging with them, so anything that my family can gather around would be a hobby to me (camping stands out in my mind). The things that have still found room in my life are Archery hunting(hiking with a bow in my hands), anything done in the company of friends or family.
Favorite place to be? Favorite place would be where ever the company of close friendships are. I don’t travel much, although God is opening my heart for travel more and more!
Weirdest job you’ve ever had/weird fact? Not a weird job in general, but the weirdest job for my personality was the month I worked on a drilling rig outside of Havre Montana. I was hired as a temporary for a guy who had other obligations for that time-frame. Drilling rigs are way out of my comfort zone and area of knowledge! I dropped a nut in the BOP right after my friend Lance told me not to…I guess that could have been really bad if he hadn’t made a mad dash to fish it out of the slime and mud! I lasted the entire month i was hired for but it helped me know it wasn’t for me!
Ministry passions? Favorite part of ministry? Our call to go and make disciples is always on my heart. I want to equip each person in the family to be used in the work of ‘going and making disciples’. It’s exciting to challenge and equip people (especially young people) to turn their spiritual gifts, talents, passions, and desires into meaningful spirit-filled worship and ministry! I believe that kind of life-pursuit is a great picture of becoming a living sacrifice.
